October 30th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has yet again declared a state of emergency in all parts of the country after floods displaced around one million people.
This week, torrential rains affected most of South Sudan with United Nations mission in the country saying around one million people have been affected.
Kiir – in a presidential order NO.26/2019AD on Tuesday – said the order is effective in “areas affected by the Torrential Flooding in the Republic of South Sudan.”
“In exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Article 189(1) of the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan, 2011 (as amended),” the order that comes into force on Tuesday reads. “I, Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, do hereby issue this Republican Order for the Declaration of State of Emergency in some Areas affected by the Torrent Flooding in the Republic of South Sudan.”
The order in Greater Bahr el Ghazal region covers Lol, Aweil East, Aweil West, Gogrial, Twic, Tonj and the disputed area of Abyei.
In Greater Upper Nile region the order affects Maban, Longechuk, Maiwut, Ulang, Nasir, Fangak, Yod, Pigi, Akobo, Waat, Nyirol, Urur, Duk, Twic East , Bor and Boma while the affecting in Greater Equatoria region Terekeka, Mangala, Rokon and Lafon
