The president acknowledged that the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement is moving slowly.

He said that the reason for the slow progress is because the agreement did not cater for everything but not the lack of political will by the parties.

“I am aware that the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement is moving slowly. The slow progress is not due to lack of political will from the parties, it comes from the fact that the agreement itself did not cater for everything. This requires the parties to work out these areas through dialogue,” said the president.

The president further said that the parties to the peace agreement have now agreed on the responsibility sharing except for the Upper Nile state.

According to the president, the agreement paved the way for the nomination of some government officials.

President Kiir went on to say that the announcement of government officials will come into phases.

“Although the announcement of State government officials and the reconstitution of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, will come into phases, I can assure you that it has already started,” he said.

Kiir congratulated the parties to the peace agreement urging them to quicken the pace of the implementation of the remaining chapters of the agreement.

The president also called on south Sudanese to work towards silencing the guns as it will allow the government to focus on directing resources to national development priorities.
