April 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudanese president Salva Mayardiit on Thursday broke his silence to respond to charges of corruption he is accused of by the opposition and then fired back at the opposition saying they are a bunch of “massive corruption”.
Mr. Kiir was responding to his former Chief of Staff turned rebel days after Gen Malong Awan accused the troubled head of state of being corrupt and looting the country.
The president was speaking at a graduation ceremony for police cadets in the country’s capital Juba on Thursday when he used the chance to response to charges labelled against him by the country’s army Chief of General Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan.
In response, President Kiir accused officials who had once served in his government before their rebellion of corruption.
“The people who ran away from us,and who are now accusing us of corruption, God knows who among us is the corrupt,” Kiir said.
The president said it has become something habitual for corrupt officials to rebel in order to evade justice.
“It has become a habit in South Sudan that people embezzle money and when they are to be accounted for, they think of rebellion and they announce that they ran away because the government is corrupt,” he continued.
President Kiir wondered how the officials built their luxuries in South Sudan and in the neighboring countries if they were not involved in the corruption.
“They leave behind their storey buildings in Juba and other capitals of South Sudan and in the neighboring countries” Kiir reveal.
“How did they build the houses if they were no involved in corruption?” Kiir asked.
