October 24th 3019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has reportedly asked Sudanese government to pressure opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar to accept unity government formation in November.
Machar on Sunday rejected to form unity government with Kiir in November arguing that outstanding issues provided for in the revitalized peace agreement should first be settled to ensure a stable transitional government.
Kiir has however insisted that he will form the unity government on November 12th 2019 if Machar and other opposition leaders such as Dr. Lam Akol of NDM refuse to cooperate.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Thursday, a Sudanese diplomatic source said the government in Juba has asked Sudan to pressure Machar to accept government formation in December.
“The government in Juba has asked the Sovereignty Council to pressure Dr. Riek to accept the government to be formed in November,” the source said.
This, the source said, include threats such as “deporting Machar to Juba.”
