November 7th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has arrived in the Ugandan city of Entebbe for meeting with SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny who arrived along with head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Abdel Fatah al-Burhan this morning.
South Sudan presidency which confirmed Kiir’s arrival said he would hold a face-to-face encounter with Machar to discuss the outstanding issues as the country faces a Tuesday deadline in which the parties are required by the agreement to form a Reconstituted Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU).
“The President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit and his accompanying delegation arrived in Entebbe Uganda on Thursday morning for a two days working visit,” the presidency statement.
“[Kiir] is expected to hold a session of face to face meeting with the opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar under the auspices of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and President Abdel Fattah Al Burhan to discuss the differences between the two parties on the implementation of the peace deal,” the statement added.
It further said Kiir was “received by Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kutesa.”
