October 24th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit has allocated 100 millions South Sudanese Pounds and 1 million United States Dollar for the pre-transitional committee, senior opposition official told the Nyamilepedia.

President Salva Kiir and prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon signed the long-awaited revitalized agreement in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last month.

The agreement, also signed by other opposition groups, came as part of regional efforts headed by the regional bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to try to end the five-year old conflict which has killed thousands and displaced million.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia in an exclusive interview on Tuesday evening, the SPLM-IO deputy chairman of the national committee for information and public relations Manawa Peter Gatkuoth revealed that President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has allocated 100 millions South Sudanese Pounds and 1 million United States Dollars for the pre-transitional committee.

“Because the committee is facing financial constraints, President Kiir have allocated 100 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) and one million United States Dollars (USD) for the pre-transitional committee,” Manawa told the Nyamilepedia from the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Tuesday night.

He said the committee has been asked by the President to open two accounts at South Sudan’s Central Bank in order for the money to be transferred to them.

“The committee, as they were told, will open a two bank accounts, one for the South Sudanese Pounds and the other for the hard currency,” he added.

The pre-transitional committee is a committee formed by the South Sudan revitalized agreement signed last month to help prepare ground for the transitional period of thirty-six months due to commence in May next year.
