July 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s warring parties negotiating peace deal in the Sudanese capital Khartoum have this evening signed the long-awaited deal on the security arrangement.
The deal, which seek to address South Sudan’s security issues throughout the would-be transitional period, was signed at the General headquarters of the Sudan’s National Security and Intelligence Service in the capital Khartoum.
The deal, signed by Angelina Teny on behalf of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition under the leadership of the country’s former First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, South Sudan’s Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth on behalf of the government of President Salva Kiir, Gen. Thomas Cirilo on behalf of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), Foreign Minister Deng Alor Kuol, on behalf of the SPLM former detainees, Mayen Bol, leader of the parties of National Agenda on behalf of the parties with national Agenda, seek to form a united army shortly before the end of the would-be 36 months of the transitional period.
According to a document of the agreement seen by the Nyamilepedia, the South Sudanese parties have agreed to the demilitarization of the civilian centres, the time-frame for the integration of forces, formation of joint security mechanism, cantonment sites and the release of the political detainees across the country immediately.
According to the deal, the process for the release of the political detainees will be discharged with the help of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and a process of national healing and reconciliation will commence at the beginning of the transitional period.
