August 11, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Two members of South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) who are accused of killing Lt. Col. Lual Akook Wol Kiir (also known as Lual Marine) have been released on bail, the police spokesman Daniel Justin said.
Lual Marine, a close relative of President Salva Kiir, was killed in May after coming into argument with some people over land issue. He killed around five people before he was stoned to death.
In an interview, Justin said the two have been transferred to the army jails because the law requires, but have been set free.
“For two Generals, Gen Majier Abdalla Mabior and General Garang Ajok Adut, our laws say that if the suspect is from the organized forces, he is to be handed back to his unit after the investigation and to remain there until the court is called,” General Justin said.
“So after investigations, the two Generals were handed over to their unites pending the trial of the case. The other three civilians are now in Juba central prison and the investigation is still going on.”
