August 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Kenyan government has revoked a preferential security protection for South Sudan’s ex-army chief turned rebel leader, General Paul Malong, sources with knowledge have said.
This come after fierce fighting between Malong’s forces and South Sudan army in Northern Bahr El-Ghazal state killed a number of soldiers including a senior rebel commander loyal to Malong.
Malong who leads the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) has been living in the Kenyan capital Nairobi since November 2017 following his release from a Juba detention on health grounds.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this morning a source in Kenya said the former army chief has been informed by the Kenyan state security that his preferential security protection has been revoked.
“They informed him that he will no longer be given a preferential security protection,” source close to Malong told the Nyamilepedia on condition of anonymity.
