June 25, 2021 — A helicopter crash at Oltepesi of Kajiado West constituency killed at least ten Kenyan soldiers and left 13 others in varying critical conditions, according to Kenyan Defense Forces.
Speaking to the media after the chopper crash landed on Thursday, KDF spokesperson Zipporah Kioko confirmed that the accident happened at 9am on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
According to a statement signed by Col. Kioko, the officers were in a training mission in Mi 171E helicopter; however, what triggered the accident is yet to established.Â
Kioko said the 13 soldiers who attained injuries were airlifted to the Defense Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi for further treatment.
She said an aircraft accident investigation unit arrived on the scene immediately to carry out investigation into the incident.
