Speaking in Nyeri, Murathe said that the deputy president’s job is to deputize president Kenyatta. This means that Ruto does not have a job so long as the president is around.

The jubilee vice chairman went on to say that William Ruto’s roles have been taken over by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security Dr. Fred Matiangi.

“He has no job if the president is around, his only job is to deputise in the president, you know his job was taken over by Fred Matiangi, he is the one in charge of coordinating other ministers, the things he used to do are being done by Matiang’i,” Murathe said

Murathe went on to say that the President was ready to support Rutos 2022 presidential aspirations and that it was Ruto himself who felt that he did not need Kenyatta.

“The president was even ready to campaign for the guy in 2022, but then Ruto thought, this guy is a sitting duck, I don’t need him and started his early campaigns,” he added.

The vice chairman further alleged that the deputy president will leave the jubilee party soon.

“He may be on his way out of the party, and possibly out of the Government, he is on record saying he has no job, let’s wait and see” Murathe said

According to David Murathe, Rutos allies are already talking of going to the next pools under the umbrella of different parties.

The lift between President Kenyatta and his deputy has been noticeable since the march handshake with the opposition leader with the most recent action being Rutos absence during the 12th Covid 19 presidential briefing that happened yesterday.
