Led by its Acting Chairman, Patemo Legge, the Jubek Council of Elders raised their concerns that include the need for establishment of more counties in Juba county.

According to the office of the First Vice President, the Elders petitioned the government to consider splitting the Juba county into a number of other counties because of the huge population and different communities that live in it.

“Our discussion was so good, we really got it.We have explained the problems of having one county in Juba which is Juba itself which will not help our people because having one commissioner will bring problems” Said Patemo Legge, the acting Chairman of the Jubek Council of Elders.

“The commissioner will not be able to run all these five tribes” Legge continued.

The First Vice President explained that the current arrangement per the R-ARCSS requires that the country be reverting to the former 79 counties under the 10 states of the country until further notice.

The First Vice President, however, said he understood their complaint and would be looked into in the future.

Addressing the media after the media, Patemo Legge also said the Jubek Council of Elders brought their “congratulatory messege to the First Vice President” and further discussed how best the government could help the people of Jubek/Juba county

“We have brought to him a congratulatory message and also a complain over the seven counties which were approved by the council of states and an order from the president’s office” Patemo Legge, Jubek Council of Elders

“We also discussed how best the government can help what we call the Jubek people” He continued.
