July 7th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has suspended domestic and international flights at Juba’s international airport after the control tower at Juba airport experienced a communication failure, two sources with knowledge to the matter told the Nyamilepedia on Sunday.

One source said he is not sure of the reason behind the suspension but said he is aware that the airport is, since last evening, not receiving air flights.

“I don’t know but it was since last evening that I saw no flight landing to the airport. I live in New Site and I should see planes landing if there were any,” the source told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

Another source revealed that there is a communication failure at the control tower at the airport and airport authorities have not been able to communicate with flights and as such, they have decided to suspend flights in and out until the problem is fixed.

“There is a communication issue, the authorities are having difficulties communicating with flights. So, the best way was to suspend them while we are working on the issue,” the sources at the airport told the Nyamilepedia.
