Juba, South Sudan
July 15, 2021 — Chairman of South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC)and Former governor of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state, Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro has called it enough and rejoined the South People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in a press conference today in Juba.
Bakosoro who left the SPLM 11 years ago dissolved his SSNMC party and declared himself back to SPLM under the Chairmanship of president Salva Kiir.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Hon. Paulino Lukudu Obede, leader of United South Sudan Party and Central Equoria State Minister of Information and Communication welcomes the political paradigm shift made by Bakosoro and describes him as a “lost son” in the Bible who later went back to his father’s home after he spent all his belongings.
“As a member of Oppositions Parties and a Leader of United South Sudan Party (USSP) I welcomed the bold decision taken by Bakasoro this afternoon in this hot Juba City sun to join SPLM” Read part of the welcoming statement
“Bakasoro is like a lost son in the Bible who later gone back to where he came from ( his father’s home) Bangasi was a SPLM lost son for 11 years after he thinks he can stand alone but he was mistaken”, he added.
Obede, who was recently suspended by his governor, Adil over misunderstanding further depicted the rejoining leader as an informed cadre whom they need as opposition groups but he said the SPLM dearly needed him more than them at the moment.
“Bakasoro is an intellectual whom we still need him in Oppositions but SPLM needs him more than us now. with the decision taken by Bakasoro, let me hope the face of politicking will change to a politics of ideas this time around” Obede said.
Bakosoro is credited by many South Sudanese, especially from Western Equatoria, as a good leader for his firm stance against corruption and injustices. He was the only independent candidate who won the gubernatorial seat in 2010 elections which was entirely manipulated by the SPLM members.
