This comes after civil servants took to the streets over the past weeks in Bor town of Jonglei State protesting the government’s intransigence to implement the 100% salary increment policy as ordered by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

According to a meeting held on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021, at the state council of Ministers Meeting Hall, attended by joint cabinet members together with the delegation from National Ministry of Public Service and Human Resources Development in regard to 100% (100 percent) increment of civil servants salaries and nature of work allowance, it was collectively agreed that the civil servants must be paid their salaries at the new rates and “multiplied by two”.

“Immediate payment of all the civil servants salaries, multiplied by two (2) based on 100% Presidential Salary jncreases to quickly be effected”, the statement reads.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Biel Mayen Yuel, the State’s Acting Secretary General, says he ordered the immediate salary payment of civil servants based on Presidential decision and the salary must be doubled.

This order is expected to come to effect within seven days from the date it was agreed upon.

“The State government is to pay nature of work allowance from local revenue within (7) days from the date of this resolution”, the statement added

“without delay to the implementation of this message order, you are all directed to act accordingly as soon as possible.” The statement added.
