Jonglei State Appoints 17 chairpersons of Specialized Committees

April 28, 2022 — The government of Jonglei State appoints chairpersons to lead Specialized Committees in partial fulfillment of article 68 of the Transitional Constitution of Jonglei State, 2011.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia, the spokesperson of Jonglei State’s Legislative Assembly, Hon. Wany Bum Makhor, said the appointments are based on both the Transitional Constitution of Jonglei State, 2011 and the Revitalized Peace Agreement, 2018. 

According to Hon. Makhor, Amer Ateny Alier, who in consultation with party’s principles, read out the nominees drawn from SPLM-IG, SPLM-IO and SSOA with nominees from OPP pending appointments.

“Meanwhile a Chairperson allotted to OPP is to be announced at a later time. All 16 Chairpersons were announced before the Parliament and  commissioned to carry-on with their constitutional duties as stipulated in R-ARCSS” Makhor said.

“I seize this pivotal moment to register my heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman and Commander In-Chief for South Sudan United Movement/Army (SSUM/A) H.E.  Denay Jock Changor for trust bestowed upon me.” He continued. 

Wany, who doubles as one of the Chairpersons and the spokesperson of the State Legislative Assembly, said he will do his part to coordinate media activities on top of his other duties.

“As Chairperson of the standing specialized committee for information and communication, double as an official spokesperson of Jonglei State legislative assembly.  I will work with all media houses to ensure that the Jonglei State legislative assembly leads the way towards Peaceful and Stable South Sudan.” Wany said.
