July 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A high-level delegation of the Jieng Council of Elders is reportedly in the Kenyan capital Nairobi to meet to meet ex-army chief General Paul Malong Awan over reconciliation with President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.

Before he fall out with Kiir in May 2017, Malong was a close friend and associate to the president and has been one of the critics who openly opposed to a peace deal with opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar.

In a statement to the Nyamilepedia on Thursday, a senior member of the Jieng Council of Elders who is currently a part of the delegation set to meet Malong in Nairobi on Saturday said they have been dispatched to the Kenyan capital to meet Malong over a plan by the tribal group to reconcile him with the president.

“We are now in Nairobi, Kenya. We are sent by the JCEs from Juba. We have a very important meeting with General Paul Malong Awan. That meeting will take place on Saturday,” the official said without naming himself.

“I can’t tell you the purpose but the general topic is to reconcile him with President Kiir,” the official added.
