May 19th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Jieng (Dinka) Council of Elders (JCE) is against the participation of the former SPLM party’s Secretary General, Pagan Amum Okiech, and former SPLA deputy chief of staff, Gen. Thomas Cirilo, in any future government as peace talks in the neighboring Ethiopian entered it’s third day after resumption on Thursday, sources told the Nyamilepedia from Juba today.
One source said the two has been involved in corruption both in the government and in the army and the Jieng Council of Elders believe that their participation would be recipe for further corruption in the new government.
“Pagan and Thomas [Cirilo] are corrupt South Sudanese former government officials. What do they want to do that they did not do in their time in the office?” the source asked pointing out that “the Jieng Council of Elders believe their participation would be a disaster because it will bring back corruption in the government again.”
Another source said the Jieng Council of Elders will not accept at any cost the two men adding that their case is the same as Machar who the source said the Jieng Council of Elders believe is symbol of violence.
“The Jieng Council of Elders is not ready to accept Pagan and Cirilo at any cost. Their case is not accepting from that of Machar who for his part is violent,” he said.
The Jieng Council of Elders is a tribal organization serving as an advisory council for the country’s president and working for the interest of the Dinka community, the largest ethnic group in the country.
South Sudan descended into civil war in December 2013 after forces loyal to the county’s president and his then northern Bahr Al-Ghazal governor Gen. Paul Malong went door-to-door killing members of the Nuer ethnic group in the nation’s capital Juba sparking country-wide protest form top army generals from the Nuer ethnic group leading to a civil war.

WHo is an angel when it comes to corruption in South Sudan. Nepotism is a form of corruption by the way. DO they think South Sudan got independent just for them?? Bashir gave up just because of pressure from America not the Jenge. We wish we would have remain under Bashir.
Let them keep on joking. They think the own the whole of South Sudan because the weapons of South Sudan is in their hands. I think they are mistaken and one day they will regret. However much they continue to use the resources of the country to bribe neighbouring countries and international community for their grip on power logic will one day prevail and the people of South Sudan will reclaim their country. South Sudan belongs to all the citizens of the country and no one is above others.
