April 18, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — The Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) has urged president Salva Kiir to reject a group of SPLM-IO defectors saying they would create havoc in the implementation of the peace process.
Aldo Ajou Deng Akuei, a veteran South Sudanese politician Friday called on President Salva Kiir to not welcome SPLM-IO defectors saying they would hurt peace implementation process.
This comes following this week’s defection of senior SPLM-IO members led by former Petroleum Minister Dak Duop Bichiok who accuse SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar of turning the group into a family dynasty.
In a public letter to President Salva Kiir posted on social media, Aldo Ajou Deng Akuey Akuei, a senior member of the tribal body said the President should not welcome those defectors who have left their camp because the SPLM-IO leader was appointing youth to top position.
“The political Exodus from SPLM IO to the SPLM mainstream, in my opinion, is a further provocation of anarchical chaos,” he wrote.
He stressed that the SPLM needs “new and young political cadres” who with their fresh vision can lead the country in the right direction after six years of war in the young nation.
“I recommend to SPLM leadership to reject any group of anarchists invaders. They could endanger the ongoing peace deal between President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Riek,” he stressed.
