June 7th, 2021 – The Jagei Community in the capital Juba has rejected an election that installed Malual Tap Diew Minister of Finance.
The leadership of the community appealed to its members in the diaspora and the South Sudanese public and South Sudanese at large to disregard the poll saying the exercise that was conducted on the 6th of June had no legal and supportive grounds but it was designed by a few to “cause confusion.
In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, Ustaz Makuar Liah Ruot who identified himself as legitimate chairperson of the Jagei Community Association in Juba said what actually took place in Juba last week was not an election but a ploy by a small group of young boys bribed by Mr. Diew to confuse the public on the media that he was elected by Jagei Community.
He said the evidence that proved that it was an illegal election was when the group passed the constitution of 60 pages and 40 articles within 30 minutes.
“Where on earth the document with 60 papers and 40 articles can be explained within 30 minutes”, Community chairperson Ruot asked.
He also confirmed that when the constitution was passed, the police, soldiers, and some security personnel were deployed around with a mission to thwart any dissenting voice.
Mr. Ruot assured the public that Malual is just a chairman of the community on social media but not a community leader by the constitution that reflects the will of the Jagei community because all electoral procedures were run unilaterally from day one.
He added that the Jagei Community led by himself is the only legitimate and popular one recognized by all Jagei communities around the globe.
“We want to confirm to the general public and in particular the Jagei community around the globe, that we are the only legitimate executive body representing the majority of the Jagei community because our term didn’t finish as dictated in the constitution”, he concluded.
An attempt to reach Mr. Diew for comment went unsuccessful and Nyamilepedia could not independently verify the report from his side.
