Israeli Ambassador to South Sudan promises South Sudan with technical assistance through the Irrigation sector.

February 22, 2022 — South Sudan’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hon. Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, met the Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of South Sudan, Gerhon Kedar.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Sunday Mr. Gattiek Wichar the Press Secretary at the office of Hon. Minister Manawa Gatkuoth said Hon. Manawa discussed with Amb. Kedar the challenges facing South Sudan especially in the area of agriculture and Irrigation.

“.. Hon. Minister Gatkuoth discussed with Amb. Kedar the challenges facing South Sudan especially in the area of agriculture and Irrigation and Hon. Gatkuoth requested the government of Israel to find ways to assist South Sudan in field of agriculture so that they benefit from experience of Israel to improve the Irrigation and agricultural sectors in the country”, Press Secretary Gattiek Wichar told Nyamilepedia from South Sudanese Capital, Juba.

According to Wichar, Hon. Minister described the agriculture as the backbone of the country’s economy but said the country needs technical skills and experiments to realize these dreams.

“.. Hon. Gatkuoth added that Israel stood firm with the people of Southern Sudan during liberation struggles that culminated in the independence of the Republic of South Sudan in 2011 and as such their efforts and consistent supports to People of South Sudan are worth appreciating”, Mr. Wichar added.

Wichar said the Israeli Ambassador came to listen to the challenges facing the ministry and humanitarian conditions in South Sudan.

“.. Amb. Kedar said he came to South Sudan to explore the challenges and obstacles faced by people of South Sudan especially issues like flooding and other humanitarian conditions facing the country”, Wichar emphasized.

He said the government of Israel is ready to offer technical assistance at different fields to staff working at the Ministry especially in the field of Irrigation and agriculture so that they will use the Israeli experiences for the betterment of the Republic of South Sudan.

According to Wichar, Israeli Ambassador was very grateful to have met Hon. Minister and his staff and added that the government of Israel will always continue supporting the people of South Sudan.

Wichar added that the meeting was attended by the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hon. Emmanuel Ladu, the Ambassador of Israel to South Sudan, Mr. Andrew Yuda, Director General for Planning, Eng. Nhial Peter Riek, The Executive Director in the office of Hon. Minister.
