September 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The main armed opposition group SPLM-IO led by the country’s First Vice-President designate Dr. Riek Machar Teny will now move its office to and work from Juba, a spokesman for Machar said Wednesday.
Puok Both Baluang, the SPLM-IO director of information and public relations told the Nyamilepedia yesterday that the main armed opposition group decided – following the face-to-face meeting between Kiir and Machar – to move its headquarters to the capital Juba.
“The leadership has decided that in the spirit of peace it would be irrelevant to work from outside the capital. So, on this basis, the leadership decided that the headquarters of the movement be moved to Juba because the war is over,” Baluang told the Nyamilepedia from Juba Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Mr. Kiir agreed with Machar to form a committee to deliberate on the report of the IBC on the number of states according to a statement issued by the SPLM-IO.
Based on the statement, the two men will takeover the states issue should the yet-to-be formed committee fail to product a solution for the number and borders of states.
Baluang further said the main armed opposition leader will return to Sudan where he has been living since mid last year on Thursday.
