8th Nov, 2017 (Nyamilepedia) -— The International Youth for Africa (IYA), a South Sudanes youth network based in East Africa, calls on the International Community to Investigate the SPLM- Former Detainees over corruption in South Sudan since 2005.

According to the Executive Director of IYA, Ter Manyang Gatwech, in 2012 SPLM- Former Detainees and current members of Salva Kiir’s administration were reported by President Kiir to have stolen over $ 4billition US dollars in South Sudan.

“A report released by the office of President Kiir at the time confirmed that seventy five officials(75), some of whom are still working within the collapsed transitional government of national unity today, embezzled over $4 billions US Dollar.” Manyang Said.

The 75 officials may include President Kiir and his former Vice President Riek Machar, however, President’s report shows that the 75 officials were mostly the SPLM leaders and military generals.

The FDs, who are currently led by the former Secretary General of SPLM, Hon. Pagun Amum formed the core of Salva Kiir cabinets and are believed to have been at the center of corruption and poor governance contrary to their current “good-guys” stand in the ongoing crises.

Amum has been accused of corruption since 2005 and was draged to court on corruption charges in 2012.

IYA believes that the SPLM/A-Leaders or former detainees must be invested to recover some money from their coffers.

“The International Community should carry serious investigation on the SPLM leaders in order to return the money to the country.” Ter continued.

“The SPLM leaders killed their own citizens indirectly through corruption. If the $4 billion was used to develop the country, how many hospitals, roads, schools and other infrastructures could have been built in South Sudan since 2005 up to now.” He continued.

Ter believes that South Sudan has been robbed of its resources by its leaders. He calls on citizens to unite and pressurize the SPLM leaders to return all the resources they have stolen from them.

“These leaders do not care of their own citizens, they only care about their spouses [wives] and immediate relatives whom they have employed in their offices. They deserve life imprisonment.” The Youth leader continued.
