July 27, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir Mayardit officially ordered the army on July 8th to attack the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar and his forces at Jebel Kujur to harm or kill him.
As ordered by the Chief of General Staff, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, in a directive to the Deputy Chief of Staff for operation, Lt. Gen. Mangar Buong Alueng, President Salva Kiir ordered the army to carry out heavy artillery, aerial bombardment and infantry offensives against the First Vice President and his forces at Jebel Kujur.
“As per the commander in chief(C-in-C) directive I am hereby directing you to immediately carry out artillery, aerial bombardment and launch infantry offensive on the defensive positions residence of Dr. Riek Machar and his forces at Jebel Kujur” confidential leak directive states.
The Chief of army ordered his troops to disarm the SPLA-IO infantry, an order that turned fatal and left many SPLA troops dead.
“Disarm and arrest all his bodyguards” the directive orders.
“Use all the forces including the attack helicopters in the operation” Gen. Malong orders.
Gen. Malong orders the army to seal off the Protection of Civilian site in the capital to prevent the First Vice president and his officials from accessing the UNMISS.
“Make sure the UNMISS POCÂ is seal off and if there is any resistance from the UN forces you have to deal with them head on” Gen. Malong State.
At least two UN peacekeepers were killed and five others were injured in the fighting. Civilians in protection sites were either killed or suffered wounds from direct attacks on the UNMISS compounds.
