December 11th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Intergovernmental Authority and Development (IGAD) has reportedly told the Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka who was recently elected the leader of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) to relinquish the leadership to Gabriel Changson, who failed to maintain the SSOA leadership during a election held on November 30.
Members of the opposition umbrella South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) in late November met in the Sudanese capital Khartoum and elected Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka by more than 60% to become the new SSOA leader, a move later rejected by Changson who only obtained about 30%.
One source told the Nyamilepedia in the Sudanese capital Khartoum that the regional body has told the SSOA leader, Gen. Peter Gatdet, that it will soon conduct a meeting between several members of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) but it not clear why the regional body jumped in to advice Gatdet to leave in favor of Changson.
“Yes the IGAD has told us that there will be a meeting in the next few weeks between the IGAD special envoy and all the members of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) here in Khartoum,” the source told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity from the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
Nyamilepedia could at the time reach Gen. Peter Gatdet for comment.
