March 11th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former army chief turned rebel leader Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei and the IGAD special envoy for South Sudan Amb. Ismail Wais are meeting in the Kenyan capital Nairobi over South Sudan peace implementation according to a senior Malong aide.
“The meeting has just started and we are looking forward to the IGAD to address our grievances that we have on behalf of the people of South Sudan,” the official told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.
On Friday, IGAD meeting with Cirilo, a holdout opposition leader failed to bear tangible outcome after the two sides disagreed on a demand by Cirilo to reopen the agreement for renegotiation.
The meeting was then adjourned to next Thursday and the team on Sunday arrived in Nairobi for a meeting with Gen. Malong who also wants the agreement reopened for renegotiation.
“The agreement need to be reopened for renegotiation so that it meet the aspirations of the people of South Sudan and we urge the regime to accept this so we cut short the suffering of our people and to safeguard lives,” the official added.
