September 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has adjourned a meeting set to begin today in Juba between the parties to discuss the final report of the IBC, a senior opposition official said.
The regional body wrote to the parties yesterday asking them to attend to Juba to participate in the meeting that would aim at discussing the final report of the Independent Boundaries Commission (IBC).
Lawrence David Lual, the spokesman of the National Democratic Movement (NDM) which is a member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) told the Nyamilepedia this evening that the regional bloc decided to call off the meeting after the government said it will not attend unless former leader of SSOA Changson Gabriel Chang and SSUM leader Delay Chagor are represented in the name of SSOA.
“The government boycotted [the meeting]. They wanted Changson and Denay represented in the name of SSOA,” Lual said.
Asked if they would be ready to accept the representation of Changson and Chagor if the government insist, Lual said they “will not compromise on that.”
He said the regional body haven’t tell them when the meeting will take placed.
