August 30th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan IDPs in Western Bhar Al-Ghazal State capital Wau have demanded guarantees before relocation as lack of proper housing and security in Wau town remains a great concern to the Wau citizens which prevents them from returning home.

Citizens in Wau has been seeking security at UN premise since security situation deteriorates in the twin about two years ago following the spread of the second South Sudanese civil war in July 2016.

The United Nations relief chief tried to pressure the government of President Salva Kiir  to allow local farmers and residents of Wau town to go back to their places of residence as the situation worsen.

He also recognized the role played by the civil society organization led by Edmund Yakani Berizilious in the country in building trust and confidence among the people of South Sudan, urging them to continue engaging government officials in the area to work for the benefit of the people so as to build trust between South Sudanese there.

“The government and civil society organizations must also do their part to build trust and confidence between the government and internally displaced persons,” he said.

As the humanitarian situation remains volatile in most parts of the country, over 17 thousands in Wau town are seeking shelter at the UNMISS Protection of Civilian sites (PoC) there.
