October 20th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has told the visiting United Nations Security Council (UNSC) delegation that he is committed to the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement and that he is keen in seeing peace return to the country.
The powerful opposition leader made the remarks while speaking during a meeting of the signatories of the revitalized peace agreement in Juba this afternoon.
“I’m committed to see that peace returns to South Sudan. Our people have suffered a lot. We want peace,” Machar says.
The UNSC delegation arrived in the capital Juba this morning to broker and understanding between Kiir and Machar who are on a logger-head on the security arrangement and the determination of the number and boundaries of the states.
The two men this morning convened a meeting with heads of the pre-transitional committee organs and as a conclusion directed them to expedite their job so that the long-awaited unity government is delivered on time.
