Huge SPLM-IO delegation arrives in Terekeka for confidence building with gov’t

April 1st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A huge delegation of the main armed opposition group of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by the former First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, arrived – over the weekend – in the Terekeka town as part of a confidence-building measure between the government and the opposition.

Several government and opposition officials who spoke to the Nyamilepedia said the delegation of the main armed opposition is made-up of over 100 people both from the group’s military and political branches.

One SPLM-IO official said a large crowds of jubilant people turned up to welcome the SPLM/A-IO delegation in Terekeka town adding that members of the of CTSAMMVM ceasefire monitors and representatives from the UN Mission in South Sudan were also presence.

Speaking to the crowds upon arrival, the opposition governor of Central Equatoria state, Gen. Peter Wani Elia, said his group is ready to implement the agreement fully while the Terekeka state governor, Jacob Gore Samuel, reiterated the same.
