February 2, 2022 –— South Sudan’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hon. Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, held a successful session with Ugandan counterpart, Hon. Sam Cheptoris, the Minister of Water and Environment of the Republic of Uganda on February 1st, 2022.
This comes less than 48 hours after Hon. Minister Manawa Peter Gatkuoth arrived in Entebbe, Uganda on Sunday for a two-day state visit.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the Press Unit of Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation says the two Ministers of Water discussed number of challenges facing their ministries.
On top of the agenda, the two ministers focused on resumption of Nyimur/Limur Multi-purpose water projects, second NBI Heads of States Summit, development of the NBI land at Entebbe and Cooperation on flood management
“.. During the session, Hon. Minister Gatkuoth and his Ugandan counterpart Hon. Sam Cheptoris discussed on key issues such as resumption for the preparation of Nyimur/Limur Multi-purposed water projects, preparation for the second NBI Heads of States Summit, development of the NBI land at Entebbe and as well as Cooperation also on flood management”, the statement reads.
According to the statement, the session was attended by Ugandan Nile-TAC, Dr. Florence Grace, the Executive Director of NBI, Eng. Sylvester Anthony and the Permanent Secretary at Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment, Mr. Alfred Akot.
On 30th of January 2022, Hon. Manawa Gatkuoth, as the Chairman of Nile-COM, toured the Nile Basin Initiative to inspect offices at General Secretariat in Entebbe, Uganda.
