Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba Appreciates Salva Kiir for trusting her to lead the parliament

Juba, South Sudan

July 24, 2021 — The Acting Secretary General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, Jemma Nunu Kumba has been appointed as the speaker of the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) on Friday.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Nunu who has held key decision-making positions in Salva Kiir governments, extends her heartfelt appreciations to President Salva Kiir for entrusting her to lead the parliament as the first female speaker.

“My sincere thanks to my chairman of SPLM H.E Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit for entrusting me with the responsibility of being the first female speaker of RTNLA”, Nunu announced on her official page.

The senior government official also acknowledged the unwavering support which she says has been shown by her comrades in the party.

“I thank my party SPLM, my fellow comrades of the party for their unending support”, She added in a statement.

Nunu went further to encourage young ladies to be determined and work on what they believe is right irrespective of naysayers and discouraging voices.

“To the girl child out there, please nobody should tell you that “you can’t do it”. You can do it as long as you have put your mind on it” she inserted.

Jemma Nunu Kumba joined the SPLM in 1991 and so far she held several positions within the party and also in government.  Following the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement, Nunu was elected as the first South Sudanese female to Parliament in Sudan and since then she has held several positions that include various ministries and Secretary General of the ruling party.
