January 31st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The holdout opposition alliance, the South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA) accused on Wednesday the South Sudan army and it’s peace partner, the SPLA-IO, of planning to attack it’s positions in Yei River state.
In a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Kwaje Lasu, the SSDNA said government troops are amassing troops in different part of Yei River state to attack it.
“The South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA) would like to alert the people of Sout Sudan, IGAD, AU, Troika, UN, and the international community at large on an impending plan by Juba regime to attack SSNDA forces and positions in Central and Western Equatoria,” the statement said.
“According to our intelligence reports, there is a significant military buildup and preparations by the Juba regime forces also known as Mathiang Anyoor in collaboration with SPLM/A-IO forces to attack SSNDA forces and positions in Yei River State and Mundri in Western Equatoria,” it added.
It pointed out that the alliance is “ready to respond appropriately in self-defense and to protect our people and their roperties.
It accused the army of torturing and killing civilians in Magwe county in Eastern Equatoria region reiterating the group’s “commitment the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement CoHA) of December 2017.
