High-level South Sudan delegation meets Al-Bashir in Khartoum over peace implementation

April 1st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A high-level South Sudan delegation led by the country’s Presidential Advisor on Security, Tutkew Gatluak, met on Sunday the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir in the capital Khartoum over the implementation of a peace agreement he brokered.

Gatluak, who is also the head of the National Pre-transitional Committee (NPTC), said in statements to the press following the meeting that the delegation which also include the Director of South Sudan’s Internal Security Bureau, Gen. Akol Koor, and Petroleum Minister, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth briefed the president on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

“We briefed His Excellency President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir about the implementation of the peace agreement which he helped us to reach and we assured to him the support of government and the people of South Sudan,” he said.

The delegation, Gatluak said, also delivered a message from President Salva Kiir Mayardit and briefed President Bashir on  oil production in South Sudan. The high-level meeting also covered issues that include but not limited to border issues such as the opening of corridors as well as peace talks between the SPLM-North and the government of Sudan.

“We also discussed border issues and the peace talks with the rebel groups in Sudan’s two areas,” he added.
