The delegation left Juba for Sudanese capital Khartoum last month with mission to mediate peace deal between SPLM-IG under President Kiir and the breakaway faction of Kitgwang led by SPLA-IO former Chief of General Staff Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual.

Speaking to media upon arrival at Juba International Airport, Tut Gatluak Manime, President’s senior advisor on security matters say the government of South Sudan under President Salva Kiir Mayardit is ready and committed for peace to reign in the country.

” South Sudan’s government under the leadership of H.E President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit is fully committed for peace and stability across the country”, Presidential Advisor Gatluak told journalists this morning at the Airport.

Gatluak, who doubles as Head of Government Delegation to peace talks, stressed that President Kiir doesn’t want to witness another bloodshed in the country.

“.. President Kiir doesn’t want the people of South Sudan to die anymore. That’s why he delegated us to bring back Kitgwang Faction on table for the sake of peace and development across South Sudan”, Gatluak further explained.

Last month, the SPLM-IG delegation led by Tut Gatluak Manime signed a separate but controversial deals with Kitgwang Faction under six conditions whose implementation remains doubtful.

The agreement; however, has drawn sharp criticism from citizens and stakeholders to the Revitalized Peace Agreement citing illegality and lack of reasonable grounds for SPLM-IG and Kitgwang faction to sign peace when in fact the two were not engaged in war.

According to critics, the deal should have been signed between the SPLA-IO Kitgwang under Gen. Simon Gatwech and the SPLA-IO group led by the FVP Dr. Riek Machar since the two sides have been at war with each other for more than five months.
