Gen. Daglo, popularly nicknamed as “Hemmeti”, was received upon arrival at Juba International Airport by Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime, and other high ranking government officials in the country.

Speaking to media yesterday at State House, Gen. Daglo said he came to Juba in honoring the invitation extended to him by South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit to brainstorm on the issues to do with implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

“.. I came here to Juba responding the invitation of H.E President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and the mission is to follow up the outstanding issues of the Revitalized Peace Agreement”, Gen. Daglo told media on Tuesday.

According to the Presidential Press Unit, Daglo will take part in the Meeting organized by Presidency today on Wednesday and deliberate on challenges facing the 2018 peace deal.

Sudan is the guarantor of South Sudan peace deal since its signing on 12th of September 2018 in Khartoum under the auspices of the deposed long-term President Omer Ahmed Hassan Al-Bashir; however, the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement is behind schedule especially the articles on the Security Arrangements that are a cornerstone to overall success of the peace deal.

According to the R-ARCSS, the Security Arrangements should have been accomplished before the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGONU); however, little has been implemented to these days leaving concerns whether they will be implemented before the end of the extended transitional period.
