Oct 20, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— Follow bitter exchange between Dr. Riek Machar Teny and his opponents in Juba, who attempted to bar him from returning to South Sudan, government ministers have now withdrawn their earlier statements.
According to Michael Makueth Lueth, the outspoken Minister of Information and Broadcasting who initiated the controversial idea, Machar can return to South Sudan as long as he denounce violence.
“We are not saying that we don’t want anybody; we are calling upon everybody to denounce violence and move forward so that we sit and talk as South Sudanese,”Michael Makuei said.

“If Riek Machar denounces violence and he wants to come back he is a South Sudanese—I said he is a South Sudanese, he has the right to come back to South Sudan[Juba]” he continued.
While Juba has attempted to negotiate an asylum on behave of Dr. Machar that attempt to bar him from entering South Sudan has proven impossible as the opposition controls many borders with the neighboring countries and wide areas within South Sudan.
Machar has maintained that he must return to South Sudan because he has important duties he must carry out, a statement that has paralyzed Juba.
For the last two days many government officials including president Kiir and JMEC chairman, Festus Mogae, have responded to Machar’s interviews, however, the two sides only accuse each other of warmongering and whether or not the peace agreement has collapsed.
While Machar threatens that Juba must denounce violence first to renegotiate a political solution, Juba calls on Machar to denounce violence and return “home”.
According to Machar the region must renegotiate a new political solution to end the conflict or else the government will eventually collapse due to huge military pressure, economic and humanitarian problems that are increasingly facing the country.
