January 5th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has said that former National Revenue Authority (NRA), Olympio Attipoe, who has been barred from leaving the country for months has been cleared of all the allegations against him and was free to travel.

In October 2019, South Sudan’s finance minister, Salvatore Garang, ordered for the investigation of Attipoe after rumors that he was running private accounts outside the country apparently stealing millions of dollars.

A five-person committee was then formed by the minister but findings were never made public. In a letter addressed to Attipoe, the finance minister said the Ghanaian citizen was free to travel after four months of confinement in South Sudan.

Upon reviewing the relevant findings of the investigation committee and its recommendations, and after conducting further consultations with the stakeholders and the leadership, I am pleased to inform you that you are free to stay or travel to any destination of your choice anywhere at any time you wish including your home country,” the minister said in the letter.

For his part, Attipoe welcomed the decision of the South Sudan government official to set him free according to the Eye Radio.

The conclusion is very gratifying, at least the whole world, everybody and the people of South Sudan now know that after all the allegations labeled against me are not true,” he was quoted by the Eye Radio.

So that fabrication is just misleading information in order to destabilize a government institution which is about to generate enough revenue for the country. I always say that you cannot find water in desert, if there is nothing, there is nothing,” he added.
