May 8th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government on Tuesday warned of importing chaos saying it will not tolerate the like of Arab Spring claiming it is aware of money entering the country from external sources.
This came after South Sudanese social media users called for protest against the regime of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit in a way that seems to have been inspired by recent Sudanese protests which long-time leader, President Omar al-Bashir, was ousted in April.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday in the capital Juba, South Sudan Information Minister, Michael Makuei, said those planning to wage protests across the country are welcomed to do so but said they will “face the consequences.”
“I want to tell everyone who is planning to wage protest that he is free to go to the street,” Makuei said before warning that those waging this protest “will face the consequences, this is very clear.”
Makuei said the government of President Salva Kiir will deal with those importing chaos and claimed that money are entering the country from unnamed foreign sources saying some of the money has already been paid to those he said will be going to streets on May 16th.
“These are imported chaos; we are ready to accept all the imported chaos. This does not come from other people but we know the source of these plans and we know that money is entering the country and the money is already paid,” Makuei said.
“We have knowledge about this money but he who want to go to the street, you are welcome, I am warning you that you better stay away from these empty plans like they are saying Arab spring, we are not Arabs,” Makuei added.
