April 18, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s High-Level Taskforce on Coronavirus has accused the UN mission in the country of sneaking, out of the country, a suspected patient of the novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

The Taskforce said in a statement this evening that the UN staffer was one of ninetynine (99) contacts of a UN coronavirus patient traced by the Taskforce for potential testing.

The Taskforce said the person who was supposedly in isolation was sneaked out of the county aboard a United Nations flight and has since arrived in his country.

“The High-Level Taskforce has learned with dismay that one of the enlisted Ninety-Nine (99) contacts (supposedly in isolation) has secretly travelled out of South Sudan aboard a United Nations flight, and has since arrived their home country,” the Taskforce said during a briefing this evening.

The a taskforce said the UN action is a “clear contravention of the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).”

The body further condemned the UN action and warned against future moves similar to this.

“The High-Level Taskforce condemns the act in strongest terms possible, holds the UN System in South Sudan accountable for any unseemly events that may ensue,” it added.

In related development, the taskforce said it was establishing a website and a WhatsApp group for disbursement of information about the pandemic in the country.

“The High-Level Taskforce shall establish a website and WhatsApp Group for its work,” it said.
