August 11th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A top General of South Sudan’s main armed opposition group led by former First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has accused the government of derailing food delivery to one of its cantonment sites in Western Bahr El-Ghazal.
In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, Brigadier General Suleiman Ali, an opposition general in Western Bahr El-Ghazal, said Wau state governor Angelo Taban refused food delivery to opposition designated area.
“The governor of Wau Angelo Taban refused to allow good delivery to Helmiya which is an assembly point for the SPLA-IO forces,” he said in a statement extended to Nyamilepedia.
“This is in spite of the fact that a that a verification team of the peace monitoring CTSAMM verified the area as a SPLA-IO cantonment,” he added.
South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a revitalized peace agreement in September last year to end the ongoing civil war.
The parties are currently implementing pre-transitional activities which includes the cantonment and assembly of forces.
