August 8, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has denied reports that President Salva Kiir Mayardit is sick and that arrangements were being made to have him evacuated for London or Frankfurt.

Social media users have been alleging for the last week that the South Sudanese head of state was having a heart problem that requires heart transplant. The rumors added that Kiir was working to choose someone to hand over power to him as he was to seek risky heart surgery and medical attention from abroad.

Speaking to journalists at the presidency on Friday, Ateny Wek Ateny, Kiir’s press secretary, said the rumors were not true and that president Kiir was in good health and was doing his normal duties as President.

“The president is in good health and I will tell you clearly that His Excellency the president has not complained of even headache,” Ateny said.

“What is on social media is wishful thinking and you will not stop human beings from wishful thinking,” Ateny added.
