“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed in his office by the Governor of Central Equatoria State Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Wednesday 21st April 2021” A statement from Salva Kiir office states.

According to governor Adil the agreement between Central Equatoria and Uganda focused on Security, border demarcations and opening of roads between the two countries.

“The briefing focused on the security situation at the border between Central Equatoria State and Uganda as well as the general situation of Central Equatoria State.” The Press Statement continued.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony said the two Countries have agreed on a number of issues which include peaceful settlement, border demarcations and opening of the roads that are connecting Uganda and South Sudan.

Hon. Emmanuel Adil urged the neighboring communities of South Sudan and Uganda to remain calm until the borders are demarcated, adding that anti-peace elements do terrorize citizens at the end areas of Kajo-keji, kaya and yei.

The Minister of Presidential Affairs Hon. Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin also attended the meeting in the President’s Office this morning.

Reacting to the statement, critics wonder if the states have constitution powers to involve in negotiating border demarcations and cross-border security with neighboring countries; however, the South Sudan presidency seems open to what works between South Sudan and her neighbors.
