July 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government on Friday said it is very optimistic that a peace agreement with the rebel is possibly coming soon one day after it has requested the mediation to put on hold the peace process.

On Thursday evening, the Sudanese Foreign Minister told reporters from the Sudanese capital Khartoum where the talks are being held that the government had requested to be given time to study the proposed peace deal reportedly rejected by all.

speaking to journalist after briefing President Salva Kiir on Friday, South Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs Martin Elia Lomoro said his government and the opposition had disagreed on minor issues and that he expects the parties agree soon.

“We had a minor disagreement with the rebels on some issues. But because of the government’s commitment to bring this war to an eventual end, we will very soon agree on those matters,” Lomoro said.

He accused the international community of empowering the rebels making them stick to some points that the government would never accept to give away.

“The international is responsibly for the government intransigence. Now they are demanding things that are much bigger than them. This is because they have been empowered by the international community,” he said.

However, Lomoro did not mention or detail how the international community empowered the rebels but last week, the United Nations Security Council imposed an arm embargo on South Sudan and renewed sanctions imposed on six South Sudanese generals.
