June 4th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government on Sunday accused the government of the neighboring Sudan of supporting the South Sudanese rebels loyal to the country’s former first vice president, Dr. Riek Machar, after allegedly uncovering a rebel plan to attack government positions in South Sudan’s Kaka region, north of the defunct Upper Nile state –  a border state between Sudan and South Sudan.

In a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Sunday, Col. Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot, a loyalist of Taban Deng’s defunct SPLA[IO], said their command, based on credible source, has intercepted a convoy belonging to the SPLA-IO forces loyal to Machar going to attack Kaka and Aburoc saying the Sudanese army are driving the SPLA-IO vehicles.

“Currently, their convoy is stucked in mud, South West of Kaka. We have learnt that some of the vehicles and APCs are being driven by Sudanese Army personnel,” he said.

He said the South Sudanese government has been monitoring the said movement of  the SPLA-IO forces along the areas between Sudan and South Sudan which he called a disturbing development that violates the Cessation of hostilities Agreement signed by the government and the SPLM-IO among other armed groups in December 2017.

“The Government have been monitoring the movement of Riek Machar soldiers along the border of South Sudan and Sudan. This is disturbing development and at the same time Its a violation of the COH signed on 21 December 2017 in Addis Ababa,” he said.

Gatluak said that “warmongering and promotion of violence orchestrated by the SPLM-IO under the leadership of the former first vice president threatens national security.

“This is warmongering and promotion of violence. The government condemn in the strong possible term that barbaric behavior and threat to national security from Riek Machar and his field commanders,” he wrote in the statement.
He accused top SPLA-IO generals, Gen. Dhilling Keah, Chief of military  intelligence and Gen. Duop  Lam, Deputy Chief of Staff of SPLA-IO of planning the alleged attacks.
