August 7th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The governor of Gogrial state, Victor Atem Atem, said in a statement issued on Monday that he and his government congratulates President Salva Kiir for signing a deal with opposition leader Riek Machar in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Sunday.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Gorial state, and on my own behalf, I would like to take this opportunity to register my sincere congratulations to H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardiit, President of the Republic of South Sudan for his brilliant success of having reached the final peace covenant signed on the 5th of August 2018 in Khartoum with SPLM-IO leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny and other opposition groups,” Atem wrote in a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia.
He commended the hard work he said Salva Kiir was dedicated to and the commitment that he also maintain.
“I know the hard work, dedication and commitment of H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardiit in searching for everlasting peace for the people of South Sudan, his efforts have now fulfilled the expectation of our people by concluding his final peace agreement,” he said.
He attributed directly the agreement to what he termed as endless determinations of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.
“This agreement is directly attributed to his endless determinations and we hope it will bring to an end the more than five years civil war in the Republic of South Sudan. My best wishes for a peaceful transitional period and the permanent peace for the people of South Sudan,” he further said.
Victor Atem was appointed in September 2017 by President Salva Kiir to replace Gregory Deng Kuac, who is an in-law to Kiir, as the governor of Gogrial state.
