November 22nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The newly-appointed governor of South Sudan’s Latjor state General Gathoth Gatkuoth has been sworn in this afternoon before President Salva Kiir Mayardit at the State House J1.
Gatkuoth was appointed on Wednesday to replace former governor Elijah Liech Bany who was also dismissed the same day.
“The newly appointed governor of Latjor State Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth was sworn into office before the President of the Republic at the State House on Friday,” the presidency said in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.
According to the presidency statement, Kiir “wished the newly appointed governor of Latjor well and advised him to rebuild trust among the people of Latjor in particular and Greater Upper Nile in general.”
For his part, General Gathoth was quoted by the statement thanking and appreciating the president “for trusting him adding that he would work hard for the development of the people of Latjor state.”
The swearing-in ceremony was administered by the country’s Chief Justice Chan Reech Madut.
