April 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The body of the leader of South Sudan United Movement (SSUM), General Peter Gatdet Yaka, has arrived in his hometown of Mayom in Unity state on Thursday, a senior opposition official allied to him told the Nyamilepedia.
Gatdet, who is also a de facto leader of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) died on Monday in a private hospital in the Sudanese capital Khartoum of heart attack according to relatives and close aides.
“Yes the body [of General Gatdet] has arrived today in Mayom town and will be taken to Ruaz Nyibol where General Gatdet came from,” the opposition official told the Nyamilepedia from Khartoum.
On Wednesday, main armed opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon issued a condolence message over General Gatdet’s death.
Machar said a high-level delegation from his Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) will accompany the body and will help in organizing the funeral.
