General Gatdet was a symbol of struggle – Lam Akol’s group

April 16th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The National Democratic Movement (NDM) said on Tuesday that rebel General de facto leader of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), Peter Gatdet Yaka, was a symbol of struggle and a hero.

On Monday evening, Gen. Gatdet Yaka passed away following a heart attack in a hospital in the Sudanese capital Khartoum following a “short” illness, relatives and  close aides told the Nyamilepedia on Monday evening.

“We learned with deep sorrow the demise of the elected Chairman of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and the Chairman of South Sudan United Movement (SSUM) Gen. Peter Gadet Yak yesterday the 15th April 2019 at 9:00 pm in Khartoum due to heart attack,” said a statement  signed by NDM’s spokesman, David Lawrence Lual. “The National Democratic Movement would like to convey its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of the late, SSUM, SSOA and the people of South Sudan at large for this great lost.”

“The late Gen. Peter Gadet Yak was a symbol of struggle, hero and a patriot who devoted his life to fight for the freedom and justice to the people of South Sudan,” the statement added.
