March 5, 2022— The personal spokesman of the SPLM/A-IO former chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, has resigned saying he wants to contribute to “peace-building” through a different platform.

Kalany, who has switched sides multiple times, announced to his social media outlet his intention to resign from Gatwech’s Kitgwang faction but failed to declare his new affiliation.

“This is to inform my friends, colleagues and the general public that I have resigned as the Press Secretary of Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, the leader of SPLM-IO Kitgwang,” Kalany said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia on Wednesday.

Kalany said he had endorsed the principles of Kitgwang Declaration with aim to help the military wing of the SPLM-IO to achieve peace but since the peace was signed between Kigwang and SPLM-IG two months ago, it’s now the right time for him to step aside.

“After the Generals deposed the leadership of SPLM-IO, I decided to support the ‘Principle of Kitgwang declaration’ the military wing of our former Movement and help to guide them toward Peace. Now that the peace is signed, I have decided to contribute towards our nation-building through a different platform since I am not a soldier but a civilian,” Kalany added.

Kalany said he acknowledges and thank all the members of SPLM-(IO) Kitgwang for their adamant support and cooperation.

“. You have been great Comrades and I look forward to working with all of you in the future as we embark on nation-building.”, he further emphasized.

He joined the SPLM-IO Kitgwang in August 2021 alongside those of Mabior Garang following the split of the main armed movement into Dr. Riek Machar and Simon Gatwech factions; however, Mabior and his close friends resign to champion what Mabior dubbed as the National Conversations South Sudan and Tomato Renaissance.
